Personal nightcat lore theory: this happens immediately after pebbles gets interrupted and is probably pretty livid, explaining his joke dialogue and the constant rains. He pumps out a bunch of miros vultures and takes out his aggression on the local wildlife for a few cycles. The nightcat just unfortunately exists in this blender. Incidentally the theory above that sparked all this is completely wrong, as a cursory standard playthrough of sofanthiel’s campaign proved to me (as well as the very good point made by tingliest lasagna) Moon has fallen, so sofanthiel is between arti and gourmand, but it’s a super weird kind of in between arti and gourmand because of specifically sky islands, just about everything else in the world could be explained away by [Joke Slugcat Name] violently hallucinating but since sky has undergone an Unfortunate Development the whole thing has no consistent place in the canon.
