Lyrics:

The other night, dear,
As I lay sleeping
I dreamed I held you in my arms.
When I awoke, dear,
I was mistaken
So I hung my head and I cried.

You are my sunshine
My only sunshine.
You make me happy
When skies are grey.
You'll never know, dear,
How much I love you.
Please don't take my sunshine away

I'll always love you
and make you happy.
And nothing else could come between
But if you leave me to love another,
you'd have shattered all of my dreams.

You are my sunshine,
My only sunshine.
You make me happy
When skies are grey.
You'll never know, dear,
How much I love you.
Please don't take my sunshine away.

Sang this song to my baby girl everyday she lived. She passed in my arms when she was 7 months old. From a tragic cause. I sang to her then as well, during the last moment I held her body in my arms. Your voice is heavenly. Thank you for this

Reading a comment sharing their own personal tragedy immediately followed by a Lebron copypasta was such a jarring experience, truly the duality of man.
  • lebron… where do I even begin? You’re… well… you’re the best.
  • My Dearest LeBron, With every dribble, you enchant the court, weaving tales of glory and triumph. Your prowess on the hardwood resonates with the beating of my heart

Boy oh boy where do I even begin. Lebron... honey, my pookie bear. I have loved you ever since I first laid eyes on you. The way you drive into the paint and strike fear into your enemies eyes. Your silky smooth touch around the rim, and that gorgeous jumpshot. I would do anything for you. I wish it were possible to freeze time so I would never have to watch you retire. You had a rough childhood, but you never gave up hope. You are even amazing off the court, you're a great husband and father, sometimes I even call you dad. I forever dread and weep, thinking of the day you will one day retire. I would sacrifice my own life it were the only thing that could put a smile on your beautiful face. You have given me so much joy, and heartbreak over the years. I remember when you first left clevenland and its like my heart got broken into a million pieces. But a tear still fell from my right eye when I watched you win your first ring in miami, because deep down, my glorious king deserved it. I just wanted you to return home. Then allas, you did, my sweet baby boy came home and I rejoiced. 2015 was a hard year for us baby, but in 2016 you made history happen. You came back from 3-1 and I couldn't believe it. I was crying, bawling even, and I heard my glorious king exclaim these words, "CLEVELAND, THIS IS FOR YOU!" Not only have you changed the game of basketball and the world forever, but you've eternally changed my world. And now you're getting older, but still the goat, my goat. I love you pookie bear, my glorious king, Lebron James.

This was mine and my grandma's song. This is the 4th year since she passed and I listen to this version all the time when I miss her. Edit: Hey guys. This is my most liked comment and it makes me really sad. I'm sorry for everyone's loss. I hope we can all recover no matter how long it takes. ❤

I’m 13 and today I got to see my moms grave for the first time. On her tombstone lay the words “you are my sunshine”. She used to sing it to me every night. Thank you.
  • All of these comments are so sad, and I’m sorry to hear about everybody’s loss :( hopefully I can bring you a little joy today! My fiancée and I are getting married in 2023. My entire childhood, my dad used to sing this to me all of the time, and it will now be used as our father daughter dance song!
  • I sung this to my baby 1 year old neice while she was taking her final breaths... she died May 8th 2019 on my moms birthday and in my arms... Her name was Georglyn. She was born weighing only 2.5 pounds. She was very special from the start being named after her grandmothers Georgina and Evelyn. She was born almost all the way blind and she couldnt hear very well. She was also a special needs baby and couldnt eat properly so she had to have a feeding tube. She was the cutest thing ever. I love and miss her so much

I don't know if you'll ever see this comment but every time my 5 month old son is crying, I'll play this song for him. Your voice calms him every single time. Thank you for helping my son ❤️

I sing this song to my daughter every night before she goes to bed. She's 9 and I will keep singing it to her until my last breath ❤
  • @Anything13265
I am almost 17 years of age by the time im writing this. My mom used to sing this when i was a child, from the day i was born till around my 13th birthday, after that it only happened a few times, the times i needed it the most. When i hear this it lowers my stress level, it makes me relax, it make my faith grow stronger. This song reminds me of my mother's love, and i wish everyone gets to experience that love someday by another person❤ If any mom is reading this, i wish you'd do the same as my mother did, by singing this lullaby to your children during their hardest times, it really means alot to us❤❤
  • My dad used to sing this to me today when I was little and I sang it with him as I got older. He died when I was 12 and everyday I cry and the first thing I thought of when I got the news was “my sunshine..” I was depressed for a while and my grades dropped but I knew I had to be strong for him so I pulled through my eighth grade year and now I’m freshman trying my hardest for him everyday
