Reformed Coulter 13.1" and May 9 2016 Solar transit of Mercury

Published 2018-06-15
It's May 9, 2016 and I give a decent description of my telescope and example of using it in anger. This is an incomplete video because batteries died everywhere and the rest wasn't recorded. Frankly, I forgot about the video until finding it accidentally today.

Here's to great organization and planning! Hic!

Love this method. I would not dare to point anything at the sun without filters, I can imagine using this setup as a solar stove!

Rockin Rob, Very nice. Captain Cook and his Astronomer Charles Green would be smiling in their graves if they could see this. Back in 1769 they sailed the Endeavour to Tahiti to observe the transit of Venus, then South to New Zealand to observe the predicted November transit of Mercury, and thats how Mercury Bay on the Coromandel Peninsula got its name.
