At Mississippi State under Ron Polk in the 90s we had the best walk on program in the country. It was a 6 week tryout before final cuts were made. The first week probably 40 kids were cut. there was literally 100 players on the field. At the final cut I saw 3 or 4 scholarship players were cut over keeping walk ons.
  • Thanks for the help, I’m thinking of joining. My nephew is in a select league and they just lost in the playoffs but ya. I really want to play more and wish I continued faster then I did but I hope I can soon.

thanks for the information on your experience. What are you planning to do now about your baseball career?
  • So when you had the first walk on practice was it just you and the other walk ons?

colleges dont give walk ons a fair try, but it sort of makes sense, they feel they did their due looking into people already
