Shin Akuma was what sold me on the character. That CPU never stopped moving. The art and his intro so badass

CVS2 Shin Akuma is probably one of my favorites boss fights in fighting games and also one of the coolest.
  • Playing CVS2 was so much fun because if you meet the requirements you will never know which boss you could get after the final stage. Some players aimed to get Shin Akuma but instead got Ultimate Rugal while others aimed to get Ultimate Rugal but instead got Shin Akuma. And there's the regular Akuma & Rugal. Fighting games with more than one boss are much more fun

"SCV ready!" "Woo-hoo! Overtime!" "What, you run outta Marines?"

SvC Chaos came out after SNK emerged from bankruptcy as Playmore in 2003, but it actually started development before they went bankrupt. Post-bankruptcy, though, it looks like they pushed it out quickly, which is why it's so rough around the edges. I heard that it was Capcom who pushed SNK to release the game when they did to honour their deal (I think it was 3 games apiece? Though I would have thought SNK already had 3 games done at that point, albeit all for Neo Geo Pocket), so they pushed it out mostly as contractual obligation. Also, in CvS1 arcade, there was a way to put all characters into Ratio 2, so you could have any two characters (including Akuma) on a team. Oh, and the Dreamcast version had free ratio edit first, allowing you to set any character to any ratio. (The Dreamcast version also had the ability to turn on running in the options, which wasn't possible in the arcade, as even SNK Groove had dashing. Running was clearly meant to be an option, most likely for SNK Groove, since all characters have run animation, but Capcom ended up not putting it in probably because running was waaaaay too good; everyone's run speed was crazy fast, like twice as fast as the running speed in CvS2; Chun-Li and Vega were like Marvel characters who could warp across the screen with their runs). So if anyone insists on checking oit CvS1 for whatever reason, check the Dreamcat version which is much more interesting than the arcade version. There's also CvS Pro which is an update that rebalanced the ratios (though it basically murdered the R1s and made the R3s busted) and added a Joe and Dan. It was better than CvS1 but also completely pointless since CvS2 came out maybe 3 months later, no joke.

The direction SNK went with SNK vs Capcom Chaos is such a weird one. When it was announced I think the expectation from everyone following the game was a game that was essentially KoF with Street Fighter/Capcom characters in it. But it’s like SNK saw that Capcom went the team direction and completely shifted gears from what they normally were doing at that time. It’s too bad the direction they didn’t go was something like using SVC Chaos as an excuse to make a follow up to Garou:Mark of the Wolves or something. Like if they were going to do one-on-one fights, having the game basically be MotW2 but with characters from KoF and Capcom games would’ve been cool. It does have some nice sprites. I do like the games roster picks too.
  • I remember the good old days of Maximilian's CVS2 boss rage videos taking on both Shin Akuma & Ultimate Rugal 😌
  • Misogi, the KKZ alternate and Akuma's signature super in most crossover games, appearing in CvS 2, SvC, and SFxT. I love it.
  • @shinsmoke
You can have Akuma/Gouki in a team in CVS1 arcade by holding specific attack buttons at the title screen before pressing start. The mode is called 'Pair Match', which sets all characters to ratio 2, including bosses.

The intro with akuma doing raging demon with all the games he's been in shows he conquers the game he crosses over in.
  • @WillieTroxler
Capcom vs. SNK Saga will always be the greatest crossover in gaming history. I truly hope they do it again in the future. Also that thumbnail is DOPE!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
  • "As the sun rises in Osaka City, Where is Shin Akuma? Some believe in a "martial arts god" who disappeared into the fire but will one day return." Shin Akuma ending in Capcom vs SNK 2

Max better hurry up he's only got 3 more days to dish these out till Akuma launches
  • @Powerwave83
CVS, CVS2 and SVC are hands down some of my favorite games of all time. Seeing my two favorite brands collide was a dream come true. I still hope on some sort of re-release 🥺

Akuma with orochi power is so sick even if it's just a small portion of it
