Hello guys! Today's video is very different!
I am not teaching mandarin Chinese but Taiwanese!
Do you ever heared how Taiwanese language sounds like?
Personally I think it sounds very different from mandarin Chinese.

In Taiwan we have many dialects, I can speak both Taiwanese and mandarin Chinese, some people can speak Hakka and many other languages since we also have aboriginals.

Nowadays many Taiwanese young people can't speak Taiwanese, I think it is quit sad because this is actually a beautiful language.

For learning Taiwanese, there is a spelling system which is different from Hanyu pinyin and Zhuyin, you can actually find more information in following websites about Taiwanese:
itaigi.tw/k/%E4%BD%A0%E5%A5%BD/
Taiwanese dictionary:
twblg.dict.edu.tw/holodict_new/default.jsp

There are 2 different views of people are battling about if Taiwanese has characters or not.
In today's lesson I am not going that deep, I will only write the Chinese characters (since I mainly teach mandarin Chinese in this channel) and English meaning, for pronunciation, trust yourself and just copy me! Enjoy!

If you had enough of watching tones of YouTube tutorials, spend so much time on searching materials, watching Chinese drama to learn Chinese, but you found out that you still CANNOT have a conversation with people, guess where is your problem?

The problem is that you are just learning RANDOM vocabulary and sentences.
This will not help you to build ability of speaking, you may say some words but can't make a sentence.

If you really made up your mind to learn Chinese, start with sentence structures.

I literally spend OVER A YEAR creating valuable contents and compiling all the topics that are popular & most needed from my past teaching experience to total beginners.
Give yourself a chance to start this amazing journey😁

Thanks for making these videos! Please keep making them! Taiwanese is such a beautiful language and it’s sad with the history of Taiwan that it is only spoken in certain parts of Taiwan. Thanks for making these videos!!!

Hi- thank you so much for posting probably the first and only Taiwanese language video for learning in the world! I would like to practice my Taiwanese so that I don’t forget, because my mom only speaks English to me and my sister since we were young. I basically forced myself to start speaking Taiwanese to my dad after I graduated college, because I wanted to have a closer relationship with him. He only spoke Taiwanese at home, a real Taiwanese man at heart. After he passed away after new year this year, there was no one to speak Taiwanese with in the family. All our relatives live in Taiwan, and they are so busy and we don’t really talk to them and not very close. Anyway, so happy I found this video! It makes me feel closer to my dad and proud of my culture and background!
  • With respect, you have to be the cutest language teacher on the internet, ever.
  • more please 🥺 it's been really difficult for searching on the internet but I really wanna learn the basics, like basic simple construction, the grammar, etc! Thankyou for this btw, it was very helpful. <3

five years ago, it would have been so hard to find these taiwanese hokkien lessons. Thank you so much. :) I'm going to practice these phrases on some of the taiwanese people in my community.
  • Thank you for this video! I am from Penang island in Malaysia and we mainly speak Hokkien here too but we speak it a bit differently. It's great to know how Taiwan people speak this dialect so i can improve myself and speak with the locals when i travel there next time. :)
  • Hokkien is very similar to my family’s native language which is Fuzhounese or Hokchew/Hokchianese. I can understand most of the words in hokkien since both Hokkien and Fuzhounese are part of the Min language family! Anyways, I am hoping to learn more Hokkien as my family comes from Fujian province!
  • Thank you for this! My family’s originally from Taiwan but I was never able to learn the language, only Chinese. I’ve always wanted to know a little bit so I can understand what my older relatives are saying and now I can!
  • @WeredogX
This has been super helpful to have some basics! Thank you.

  • my grandma died last year and she mostly spoke hokkien and only a little mandarin cause she never went to school and even though I’m only half taiwanese I feel like I should learn hokkien for her🫶🫶

Thanks for the cool video! Would really like it if you could teach more on this! I'm from Sarawak (East Malaysia) and our Hokkien is quite similar but different from Taiwanese. Would really like to learn more since my grandfather was Taiwanese
  • Thank you for the Taiwanese lesson, and you're a very pretty teacher too!
  • @silverstorm1000
Thank you! My boyfriend's grandma only speaks Taiwanese so I'd like to be able to talk to her. She can understand Mandarin too but I think it would be cool to say hi to her in Taiwanese.
  • @fnafpixel1687
