Born and raised Catholic and planning on dying a faithful servant of Christ as a faithful member of His Church! This movie shows the reality of the power of God’s love for us and how we are blessed by serving one another in love! Praise God, from whom all blessings flow. Great movie about great men of God fighting evil with love.

Thank you for this great movie. A wonderful story. And as for Gregory Peck, he was such a great actor and a great man. Blessed be his soul in Christ. Just the same for Christopher Plummer and the others.

I JUST READ AN EXCELLENT BIOGRAPHY ABOUT O'FLAHERTY, AND THIS FILM WAS QUITE FAITHFUL TO THE EVENTS IT DEALS WITH. THANKS TO THE JEWISH FILM FESTIVAL FOR POSTING THIS!
  • This is a stunning movie, I enjoyed very much watching it without being interrupted by the advertising.
A perfect example of the Catholic's battle against the Antichrist.
What a courageous man risking his life with the faith and the guidance of God.
One of my favourite powerful scenes was at 1:29:01 when Mon Seigneur O’Flaherty started to say to the Head of the Gestapo; “No, you, listen to me!”
also the one at 1:00:13 sadly he was executed, but not by his people who respected the servant of God,
then the most unexpected scene at 2:09:05.
Thank you ever so much for having uploaded that film. Good Wishes to you All. God Bless you. A.

What a find to stumble on this movie here!!! Gregory Peck and Christopher Plummer never disappoint, and they knock it out of the park here! Anyone who doubts the existence and the power of God, I should just direct them to this movie.

I bought this years ago, after having seen it during the original TV presentation. I knew some of the story and my father had a cousin who worked to with the Underground in Poland. This is what people need to be showing their kids. They need a good dose of truth.
  • A perfect informative film for a 'pyjama day'

    I came upon by accident
My dad was 93 when he died in 2015
He seved in the Royal signals in Ireland, Burma and India, during WW2
Gregory Peck has always been one of my favourite actors
    Demonstrating, courage, understanding and humility

One of my uncles was one of the many who hid out in Rome.He had been taken Prisoner at Monte Casino ,then managed to escape. He travelled all over Italy before getting caught in Rome and spending the rest of the war in Colditz.
  • What a great movie. What a beautiful message of Gods Mercy through a Catholic Priest who did the right thing at anytime!
  • I'd like to answer my own question posed in an earlier comment. After a little research, I know that Herbert Kappler was put on trial for war crimes in 1947 and condemned to a life sentence in an Italian prison. His wife Leonore divorced him in 1948, so that's why she didn't visit him in prison. He had supervised the killing of 335 Italian civilians during the war, which explains why he was given a long sentence. He eventually escaped from an Italian hospital and died from stomach cancer 6 months later in Germany, aged 70. Hugh O'Flaherty suffered a stroke, returned to Ireland and died in 1963, aged 65. Maybe the stress of the war and his work saving others shortened his own life. As you see, this was a haunting film.

    What a wonderful movie.
    Never seen it before.
So difficult to find a worthwhile film to watch but this classic doesn't disappoint.

With the names of the big guns putting their names to this movie it was clear even before it began that it was clearly going to be amazing. I certainly was not disappointed. Thanks for posting.

So wonderful to see this film again. I am grateful to the Miami Jewish Film Festival for posting it. Superb acting, and I loved the ending. There are dedicated priests out there: I know of some of them. Nice to see good and evil portrayed as they truly are, yet that evil can be redeemed in the individual soul.
  • @Miriana727
Oh, thank you so very much! An Uplifting story. We need to hear such stories to give us strength and courage in this very troubled time. As well as the story, the acting is wonderful. I loved the ending of this story as well. The Christian message is forgiveness. But how very difficult the choice. How does one confront EVIL? Pope Pius XII had a very difficult role in those difficult days. I think he did the best he could. RIP All those who are no longer with us but have entertained us with their talent!

Most excellent movie to show what people had to do to fight against the Nazi oppression in World War II.
