The stock for video game retailer GameStop closed up 74% on Monday, harkening back to the buying frenzy in January 2021 fueled by traders on Reddit. Martin Baccardax, senior editor and chief markets correspondent for TheStreet, joins CBS News to examine what could be behind the stock's sudden surge.

I feel investors should be focusing on under-the-radar stocks, and considering the current rollercoaster nature of the stock market, Because 35% of my $270k portfolio comprises of plummeting stocks which were once revered and i don't know where to go here out of devastation.
  • Yup retail traded 180 million shares today because roaring kitty made a post. Keep up the great and honest Coverage đŸ‘đŸ»

This complete interview is the perfect example of the bad actors throwing the stone and hiding the hand... Gamestop stock has a huge amount of shares held by retail who have been holding for 3 years. In fact a very large percentage of the retail holders have directly registered their shares with Computershare. The buying volume today wasn't all or hugely influenced by Roaring Kitty it was over-leveraged hedgefunds blowing up. In this "interview "... no mention of abusive naked shorting, rehypothication, illiquidity of the market. Why can't this "expert" tell the truth? The hedgefunds messed around with retail with all of their loopholes hoping for companies like Gamestop, AMC, KOSS to go bankrupt but they survived and now they are forced to buy back all of those counterfeit shares before the SEC's CAT system goes live exposing their corruption and exposing them to prison time.
  • As much as i want to invest in GME, I think it has some short term pain ahead. Currently sitting on about 250k, do you still think GME is a good buy right now or I have I missed out on a crucial buy period?

Oh so if civilians try to make a buck there’s rules created and it’s illegal but insider trading and market manipulation it’s ok right

This trade has been setting up for a while now. It literally had nothing to do with his post.

Retail buying. No, is as retail have been buying for the last 3 years. We have been buying and holding, this isn’t retail who bought 180 million worth today. This is what we don’t watch the news folks. This is shorts starting to slowly cover, institutional buying, gamma and a whole lot more, but you guys won’t mention this
