#DancingVillageTheCurseBegins #BadarawuhiDiDesaPenari

In this horror-thriller, a shaman instructs Mila to return a mystical bracelet, the Kawaturih, to the “Dancing Village,” a remote site on the easternmost tip of Java Island. Joined by her cousin, Yuda, and his friends Jito and Arya, Mila arrives on the island only to discover that the village elder has passed away, and that the new guardian, Mbah Buyut, isn’t present. Various strange and eerie events occur while awaiting Mbah Buyut’s return, including Mila being visited by Badarawuhi, a mysterious, mythical being who rules the village. When she decides to return the Kawaturih without the help of Mgah Buyut, Mila threatens the village’s safety, and she must join a ritual to select the new “Dawuh,” a cursed soul forced to dance for the rest of her life.

South East Asian cinema is a treasure trove of horror movies. Most of them based on the true stories. Just like this one.

As a fellow Southeast Asian, I'm soooo excited for this!

In my opinion, the title would be better to be “Dancer’s Village (Desa Penari)” rather than “Dancing Village (Desa Menari)”. But then, hopefully this become a great movie really soon

Went straight to the comments for an explanation. I'm always intrigued with small town villages from diff countries. Ours is just as crazy. Most of the time this type of movies are indie and not on big mainstream media

"A Film By Kimo Stamboel" Yeah, no wonder i enjoyed this one more than the previous movie. In Indonesia, Kimo Stamboel stands among some of the best directors working today in the Indonesian film industry

I didn't like the first movie but i saw this new one in an IMAX theater in Indonesia a few days ago and i can confirm that this is a superior movie than the first. Aulia Sarah once again was fantastic as Badaruwhi and Maudy Effrosina is scream queen in the making right there, fantastic performance from her. The climax alone is better than the previous movie's entirety 🙌

Watched it in Singapore last night and this is on par with Part 1. Amazing!Whist there’s less gore and jumpscare, the film works by using a very dark and creepy setting.

It’s good that lionsgate is taking notice of SE Asian folklore now. Good iob!

  • My expectation was to see comments from American citizens, but what I saw was that there were still many Indonesian netizens who commented😂
  • Watching this movie last Monday. And i fell in love to it directly. Less gore and jumpscare but dark and creepy setting they used, and with great story telling made it even more stunning than any other movie that focus on jumpscare and the present of monsters and ghosts. This made this movie became believable to be based on true stories.

I feel international/foreign horror movies are better than either mainstream or American horror movies, there is something that other countries are doing better than we are.

  • @Romila7

I enjoyed the previous one….it was splendid. I urge all the local south East Asian directors to bring their local myths and folklores to bring in the mainstream media. I am sure the hidden gems are yet to be unfold

yg komen 10% org luar sisanya 60% org yg sok geli dgn 30% org yg proud dengan nih film, ngatain alay lah overproud lah padahal situ sendiri yg ngebuat hal kek begini jadi overrated,, emng ya kalau manusia indo bisa di adu domba, hal sekecil ini saja dijadikan perdebatan 😪🙄
  • @MrStraightlover
"The Dancing Village" is a misnomer. The accurate translation is The Dancers' Village or the Village of the Dancers.
