I don't even have a dishwasher, but guess what? I'm still watching this 😂
  • I'm almost 30 and I've been living on my own for almost 7 years... and I never knew all these because they were not taught to me. I'm so happy to live in this day and age where these hacks are available to the general public!

I'm not a dishwasher expert, but when we got ours I was concerned about the long run time... almost 4 hours! So I did some research and learned that the reason behind that is that newer dishwashers are made to be energy efficient and they use less water, cycling through the same water a couple times... and that's why it takes so long. When you do express wash it takes less time but uses more water.

Unless I missed it, a tip I found recently and live by is to run your kitchen sink until hot. Then start the dish water. Game changer!!!!
  • When my mom was in hospice she would go in and rearrange my set up of her dishes in her dishwasher as long as she could. When I would ask her she would laugh and ask "Don't you know how to load a dishwasher yet?" Turns out I was instinctually doing it right lol. Mom I plan to bring this up if I get to see you again when I pass. Love and smiles Brittany for helping me out here

After watching this video, I took a little field trip to my dishwasher and discovered that I do have those features you pointed out! Never in my mind did I think that the upper rack can be lifted?! So awesome! Thank you!
  • In Italy we choose the long cycle (especially the "ECO" - ecological ones) because they use way less power compared to a quick wash! 😉 Also we never open the dishwasher when it has just finish the cycle because the steam ruins the kitchen furniture over time 😃
  • Doesn't have dishwasher... But I actually learnt many new things about it ...Dishwasher is in my future budget so it's useful
  • Hey girl! Thank you so much for this video! I was adopted by my grandmother when I was 9 and no one ever taught me how to load the dishwasher and now as an adult I’m clueless! So Tysm for this video! It helped so very much! Even though we are similar ages you are like the mom I never had! I just adore you!

I found all these tips very useful. Thanks. My son came out with the bols placement method when he started doing the dishes: it works like a charm. Rinsing is only necessary when the food is crusty dry: so, I am schooling the kids to load their used dishes right away to avoid the drying stage..... Also inspecting and cleaning the side rubbers is a must, depending of the frequency of usage. And read the owner's manual: that will give you an 'Aha' moment. It's boring but a sure way to fully enjoy your appliance.

Absolutely love the skits at the end! Always make me chuckle.

I’ve been doing all of this for years. It’s nice to be validated.
  • A tip that I learned is turn on the sink and get the water hot before you start your dishwasher. It really seems to help. Also yes cleaning the inside helps a ton to.
  • I purchased this dirty/clean magnet on Amazon months ago so I was happy to see it featured here. It has been a lifesaver at my house! We all love it! Great video, great tips! Thank you!
  • I love this Brittany!!! I’ve been watching you for awhile and I love that you’ve “loosened up” a bit from the perfect and scripted style videos. love your personality and sense of humor. Thank you for letting it come through. 💜
  • Love learning new stuff, especially when it's useful! Had no clue my top shelf raised and lowered! Thank you so much!
  • This was a perfect video! I’ve been working on appliances for a long time so I know all of this and this is such a great informational video for those who don’t know about dishwashers and the essential key factors that are extremely important, such as making sure the spray arms can freely spin and also trying different detergents. Great video!! I use cascade gel with Dawn chlorine free and also cascade platinum here and there it just keeps my machine extremely fresh.
  • As someone who frequently does dishes in my house, I learned many of these things in my own, but learned new things from this video. I will especially be using the dish pod trick, so much easier to remember. Thank you for the tips
  • I can't wait to get a dish washer. And poor Ryan.....You left him speechless at the end. 😂😅🤣🤭
