Mojang plans to implement Bundles into the game, any day now. But they were already doomed to fail from their first teaser in 1.17.

  • They should remove the inventory as a whole! No inventory, no problem (I'm waiting to be hired for Mojang)
  • @VD913
It's ridiculous that an adventuring game doesn't have the one thing by default that almost every modpack includes: Backpacks.
  • @Xylight
Mojang: We recently learned that the inventory can be used to carry items that can inflict harm to animals and other people. We're removing the inventory.
  • @CaptainX2012
Minecraft alpha-beta didn't really have this issue to be fair because of the lack of item variety. You could only really get seeds from hoeing grass, mobs only dropped one thing typically, and there was only one type of wood, saplings, stone and two types of flowers
  • @HelloIAmAnExist
I think you were too harsh on ender chests and shulker boxes. They absolutely did not solve the issue, but they're really convenient tools (placing them down and having to use silk touch for ender chests is not ideal, but really not a big deal), and they definitely help.
  • @vertsang5424
honestly, if nostalgia is the reason they don't increase the number of slots...then why not add a backpack item which increase the number of slots? that way each players can choose if they want to use it or not. And the backpack would use the elytra/chest armor slot to balance things out. Forcing you to use a boat or an horse once a while, or to travel on foot.
  • Honestly, mojang should add an item which makes the inventory bigger, something like a backpack
  • @1ndiebird
In Terraria 1.4.4, Relogic changed the maximum stack size from 999 to 9999 items for all items that aren't weapons or armour. Notably, 999 has been the maximum stack size for a large amount of Terraria's run time, but from what I've seen, no one has complained about the change, as it only added to convenience. Minecraft is a game with a lot of similarities to Terraria, so in my eyes, there is no reason for 64 to continue to be the ultimate number for stack sizes.
  • @twomur_
the solutions they introduce over time have technically solved the inventory issue but then a few updates down the line we’re back to square one cause there’s more items and more clutter and so it’s a weird case of power creep where the inventory has become an insane boss like you said and the solutions they add don’t amount to the modern game. we need a fundamental change but as for the bundle i’m actually someone who really likes how it works in its current state and always keep 1-2 on my as they are extremely useful for storing my crafting table, furnace, some torches and scaffolding and then i always leave room in it or just bring a second for clearing up clutter like seeds or other loot i get in small quantities
  • @risingphoenixrl
I'd say a argument for a increase of the inv. Slots would be that the amount of items receivable and the variety of items has increased over the years And btw, I think eggs, snowballs and enderpearls only stack to 16 cuz they are throwable projectiles and it would be op to throw 64 without reloading?
  • As someone who plays modded with bundles, they do actually help massively, and become the most useful item when looting structures.
  • 6:27 - WHAT?! WHY!!! Why on earth can you even put unstackables into your bundles if they fill them up instantly?! This makes literally no sense.
  • As a person who the last 5 years his favorite activity in Minecraft was and Right now is speed run the bundle (when they took it off around 1.18 and 1.19 I've stopped playing the game lol until they re added it as a experimental feature). It's perfect for my style of playing (collect all flowers and saplings in early survival for example) and i love the purpose focus of the bundle. I feel like a hacker goin for biomes that bunnies spawn and collecting dandelion (yellow flower) to breed them. No joke, it's my favorite item in the game. Maybe they could add a "ender" or "skulk" bubdle and stack non stackable items IDK. But there's a video of Minecraft ideas academy about the bundle were they describe the problems of the inventory and how the bundle fix one of it.
  • I think mojang is afraid of adding stuff that is already in mods into the game. Come on, It wouldnt be Hard to add backpacks into the game.
  • @tnt_xxx_tntvods
The reason there's so much disappointment surrounding the enderchest and shulkerbox is because (going in line with the way you presented them) most people think that one storage item / improvement will completely solve the issue, when in reality inventory management will always be an issue. These items were introduced to mitigate the issue, not solve it. Inventory management is always going to be an aspect of the game, these items are just added to try and make that easier to handle, and in some ways they did well and other ways they failed when dealing with this issue. While they certainly could and should do more QoL updates surrounding this issue, there's no true way to "solve" this issue completely, only reduce its impact.
  • Ender chests and shulker boxes never aimed to solve the "inventory issue". And both ender chest and shulker boxes are hingly used by players for different things, like a personal save in terms of the ender chest. But you are right about the bundle, it is now not even normally in the game anymore. If I want more inventory, I usually use mods :).
  • @shenko_
I don't think bundles are inherently bad. Gave them a go in my current Minecraft Survival Series and they serve their purpose well even after the early game. I think they are pretty neat! That being a organizer for smaller items. It's not meant for non-stackable items, which is what people are upset over, even though that isn't the point of bundles. I think Pixlriffs said it best "Even of you increase the capacity of the bundle, you will eventually run out of space or be turned away because it only keeps one non-stackable item." There are multiple problems with inventory and I do agree it needs to be rectified, preferably increasing the amount of spaces. So long more items are added in updates, inventory management is going to get harder and harder, and there is no silver bullet. Not even Shulker Boxes are the end all for inventory management. Calling bundles a failure purely because they only hold a stack of items or one non-stackable item is very pessimistic IMO.
  • @Agean05
adding more inventory slots seem like a band-aid solution imo. I much prefer if Mojang finds multiple creative ways to help with inventory issue with their own pros and cons, and players had to pick. I like having options. It's kind of like when they added the Elytra, and it made it so Horses and Minecarts kinda went useless. I don't like having one option that's just better in every way, I want to use a horse or make a railway track depending on the situation because that makes me interact with the world and motivates me to play. The inventory issue should be taken in a similar way. I definitely agree that the sheer amount of unstackables and horrible hotbar management are the two biggest problems with the inventory, but "more slots" don't entirely fix those issues. How about a toolbelt that you can put your tools in? Once a tool is in a toolbelt, punching a block will automatically put the correct tool for that block in your hand, and it'll go back to the belt when you let go? This way we can free up 4-5 slots from your hotbar. Or a quiver that holds arrows so you're encouraged to use lots of different types of arrows without worrying about them clogging up your inventory? Similar smart solutions can be made for stuff that you constantly have to move in an out of your hotbar: totems, potions, building blocks etc.
  • I think you are wrong, I recently added bundles to my survival minecraft server at their current state and they are fabolous, yes I had to craft 3 of them, but I think it's just the progress system, if I had 3 bundles with 128 slots it would have been overkill.
  • @intevolver
I fill ender chests with shulkers of useful stuff, it never really feels like a problem to use, pretty powerful
