SYNOPSIS:
In the wake of King Henry IV's death, Isabella crossed her own Rubicon and declared herself Queen. From here on out it would be a struggle for supremacy or death. She moved quickly to secure her husband's allegiance and did it just in time. Portugal would invade with an army to contest her rule.

  • As a Segovian, I love the portraits and the treatment that you gave to my city. Thanks for taking into consideration the fact that King Enrique IV died in Madrid. Looking forward to parte V!!!
  • In the pantheon of "Saviors of Europe" that includes the likes of Jan Sobieski, Pepin and Charlemagne, no one is greater than Queen Isabella. Truly a hero for us all. So exited about this one and Happy Thanksgiving to all the Yanks out there. Hitting up Ancient Treasures for my personal Christmas presents. The Crusaders and Roman standard!!!
  • I’m a spaniard and I’ve waiting this video with high enthusiasm. Thanks for keeping uploading about this topic!!🎉

Your presentations regarding Iberian history are my absolute favorites. Great job, as always.

First just wanna say the artwork, music, and narration are phenomenal, really gets invested in the video. The Battle of Toro was pretty intense, had me on the edge of my seat. Portugal really gets slept on a lot, not many people realize just how strong it used to be, now it's gotten overshadowed by it's former colony in South America, which is funny and sad at the same time. The early modern period is my favorite part of European history, especially in terms of warfare, with the introduction of the pike and shot. I find the mix of armored knights, pikemen, and gunpowder weaponry fascinating, and am disappointed it's not represented in fantasy more often, as I just love the Spanish tercios. But there just seems to be this stigma with gunpowder in most medieval fantasy, like people just seem to avoid like the plague. There seems to be this strange idea that gunpowder didn't exist until the 1700s or something.

I'm from Spain, this is better than my 2ºBach History notes. Buen trabajo.
  • Ahhh finally! I've been waiting on this one since the first day that pt. 3 came out!
  • @bear499
Wow, the artwork is out of this world. Those drawings of the alcazar are so beautiful. This was a fantastic, video as always. I'm always surprised with every new release how the quality of the videos manage to outdo every video that came before it. They are always worth the wait. I can't wait to get to the war with granada. Awesome work!

Excellent series. I honestly cannot wait for the next episode. I am very pleased that I came across your channel and it has not ever failed to impress. Thanks and keep up the great work.
  • Once again fantastic video. Just got back from my Honeymoon and Segovia was the 1st place we visited once we landed in Madrid. Didn't know how big a part it played in Isabella's assent.
  • You used my Title! NICE. Very Interesting figure, which as many women get absolutely shafted by pop history. The only thing I and most people knew her for was Recoquista and Columbus. I had no idea she was this tough this early.
  • Wow, amazing story telling, felt like I was listening to a good audiobook. I’m glad you’ve returned to the Reconquista series; I liked the Byzantium bonus episodes, but I found this channel through the Reconquista and it was honestly the main draw for me. I was just waiting for the narrative to resume.
  • @IWS107
Great Video as always...can't wait for the 5th Chapter!
  • @fatihk1194
This is like a gift. Cant wait for the next video? I want to learn every detail about fall of Granada.
  • @ArchonShon
Amazing work by everyone involved in this video! Music, artwork, animation and narration are all top notch.
  • I find a lot of delight in listening to these video's about Queen Isabella.

You know my history classes even at university were always lacking here in the USA. I learned more when I struck out on my own and started reading. Professors always hated that… some though liked that.
  • @yaneq5458
You saved me man. I have an exam on "History of Spain" and I just couldn't understand so many things. They didn't make sense (they just don't without the context!). Now I know more from these videos than from hours of lectures. Thank you so much!
