I'm a geotech engineer and construction workers try to do the rods trick instead of having the underground utilities marked out ALL THE TIME. I have to tell them they can't do that and they yell at me lol

You need 1200 coulombs to charge that to 3V. Since an amp is one coulomb per second, just take 1200/Current to get the number of seconds it takes.
At 10A, that's 120 seconds, or TWO MINUTES.
To charge it in a second, you'd need 1200A!!

Fun fact. Back when electricity was new, they sold little electricity catch pans. You'd put them under your electrical sockets to catch any electricity that would "leak out".

I remember being an amazed 12-year-old kid the first time I saw a well driller use a set of witching rods. Years later I found that we were directly above an underground aquifer a mile wide and 12-miles long. He could have drilled literally anywhere and hit water at 180 feet.
