Wild guess: I think the space was too open and he didn't have anywhere to hide so he felt insecure. That, combined with the fact that he's (I suppose) an indoor cat and not used to going out, plus the fact that he had to travel too far away from his home. I recently took my cat to the beach near my house. First time she was timid, second time she almost fell into the water to have a swim. But the beach was rocky with plenty places to climb and hide so she felt alright

It is an adorable video, but the music is *way* too loud and it takes away from hearing the cat meow. Having no music would have been a better choice.

I took my 2 cats to the beach recently too, they were unsure at first. But quickly got curious and walked with me quite a while. At the second time I would off-leash them & they followed nicely.

He is a beautiful cat, but clearly traumatized by his experience. Not many cats like being taken out of their routine. It was good that you took him home when you realised this.

Super cute kitteh but too open. He needs something to hide in for the first few times and explore on his own terms. Like a mesh gym bag or one of those tent thingies. Once used to being there, curiosity will get him and he will explore. π

The cat was clearly very scared I feel he shouldn't have just been thrown on the beach like that he was clearly signaling that it wasn't fun. I started bringing my cat out to the park but i bring his comfy mesh carrier with me so if he wants to jump in to feel safer he can and the park isn't too far from home.
