Amazing Discovery In The Middle of Nowhere

Published 2024-05-21
It is a remarkable thing when people come together and do something wonderful. Out in the back country of Nevada up in the hills hides an old mining community. To keep this little slice of history together, some good samaritans decided to put their skills to good use and preserve an older cabin.
They also decided to stock it with food, drink, pots, pans, places to sit, places to sleep, and a clean place to take refuge from the outside. Creating a glimpse into how the miners that used to work this lands might have lived themselves. With an old tool shed and shop/garage area there was plenty for us to explore. As well as a large collection of random items that most likely were to be reused for other purposes. This was a very cool place to have a wonder around and we would like to thank Kat for pointing us in this direction.

To all Preppers and wannabe Preppers . I've been Prepping for over 20 years . Take my advice. If there is a SHTF situation the Nevada Desert is not the place to go. Water being the main obstacle. Firewood is the other problem, Too many problems to name , find a place that has a water source and fairly decent climate for growing food.
  • One of the best "volunteer cabins" I've ever seen! Thank you to those folks who are keeping it up.

It is so nice to be reminded just how thoughtful, and generous people can be. They have gone out of their way to ensure the well being of others. I wonder if there was a book to sign, and when the last visitor was there. Thank you Andrea, and Steven. This was so enjoyable. 🏠🏜🙏🏻👏🏻💛🌞

  • What a beautiful abandoned place. I sincerely hope it is protected and preserved by people like you, who take the rest of us out to those distant and lonely places. IB old, but I sure do enjoy tagging along on your adventures.
  • They probably went to town and will be surprised when they see their home on you tube.

Great find and video! A friend of mine use to work with developing water systems for remote mountain villages in South America. There rarely was resources for plumbing water to individual toilets and they would install the toilet and the user would carry a 5 gallon bucket of water to flush it. It looked to me that might have been the situation there.

The cabinet with the “big knobs “ reminds me of one my parents had in the 70’s

Hi Steve and Andrea - what an amazing place! About the closest approach to 5 star living that I can recall in your explores. I have seen some bizarre abandoned junk in my time, but I have never before seen a section of spiral staircase!
