The Funeral (Lyrics)

I can’t leave my bed, but I can’t sleep
I’ve got no clean clothes and I can’t eat
And I smoke too much till’ I can’t breathe
I’m emotional I’ll always be
And I hate myself but that’s alright
And I love myself but that’s alright
And I tell myself that it’s alright
That I dream about the day I day

To my surprise, there’s no one to blame
Nobody came what a shame shame shame

I’ve been dancing at my funeral
Waiting for you to arrive
I was hoping you’d look beautiful
Dancing with tears in your eyes
But nobody came, what a shame shame shame

My hair fell out cause I died it cheap
I want a real fake smile, but I hate my teeth
I want to tell you that I love you, but I just can’t speak
I’ve got a fucked-up soul and an STD

do you hate yourself well that’s alright?
do you love yourself well that’s alright?
do you tell yourself that it’s alright?
that you dream about the day you die
to my surprise there’s no one to blame
nobody came, what a shame shame shame

I’ve been dancing at my funeral
Waiting for you to arrive
I was hoping you’d look beautiful
Dancing with tears in your eyes
But nobody came what a shame shame shame

I wanna prove my love before I leave
I wanna make you come and scrape my knees
Want you to bite my tongue until I bleed
And you can put these fucking words in my obituary
We all hate ourselves well that’s alright
We all love ourselves well that’s alright
We all tell ourselves that it’s alright, that we dream about the day we die

I’ve been dancing at my funeral
Waiting for you to arrive
I was hoping you’d look beautiful
Dancing with tears in your eyes
But nobody came, what a shame shame shame
Nobody came what a shame, shame, shame, shame, shame

I was at one of his concerts and overheard one of the security guys say "it's the 80s all over again man" and I felt so proud because that's the kind of energy his music and his fans give off. Dom you did amazing as always. I love being a part of the bhc.🖤🖤🖤🖤

I'm 61 years old and haven't been so obsessed about music for years. Yungblud has restored my faith in the energy and love and pure uplifting joy that really inspiring music can put in my heart. I start my day my listening to him and it sets me up for dealing with whatever shit is thrown at me at the moment. Lyrically wonderful, musically brilliant, performance just perfection. I bounce around like a geriatric loon, he makes me so happy. And yes, I might be old, but I relate to so much of what he's about. He makes me laugh, he makes me cry. He deserves all the praise and love in the world.

44 years old here. Loving this guy. Music resonates even at my age. Nice to have young talent out there keeping good music alive.

Yungblud always takes the worst most painful emotions and makes them into something beautiful

I just love how this song involves death and its title is literally 'The Funeral", but it actually promotes staying alive. Because when we're dreaming about how we wanna die, we might feel like no one pays attention and we're completely alone, and maybe this is a way they would care, but the song says "Nobody came", and so then what's the point of dying? Why not rather stay alive and live life for its small, everyday pleasures?

When I heard this song I convinced myself that this was just a cover of an 80s song by some artist I had forgotten about. After a quick Google search I realized no, this is an original song from a new artist and it is just fucking awesome. Thank you.
  • Just listening to this artist for the first time. Have I been living under a rock? Totally vibing to this.
  • Good to see Ozzy active in music again, even as just an extra for the music video. It's insane to think how some young person from England built enough of a name for himself that I never heard his music before and he's worked with the baby daddy of metal lol.

Is anyone gonna talk about how amazing his voice sounds? It sounds like he's singing in a lower tone and it really suits him so well

This kind of gives me My Chemical Romance vibes and I love it.
  • I'm in love with this song. It's modern and yet I hear the 80s and the 90s. It's great to see Ozzy as I've been a fan for 5 decades. Keep up the good work boys. Such a fun song. I just want to add that it just feels as if Billy Idol would dig this tune.
  • 65 yr old , fking love this , going to put in my will , this to be played at funeral

I’m an old git at 58, my daughter is well into this….takes me back to the 80’s when we had someone to rebel with. Love it, love Ozzy. See ya at The Albert Hall….

dom, i doubt you will see this but if you do.. youve saved so many of us and you dont even realize it, myself being one. i am forever grateful to you. luv u 🖤🖤🖤
  • So this is officially my most listened to song of 2022...been a tough year if you can't tell. But hey, I don't regret a minute of listening to this song. It deserved every minute and more.
  • This song helped me last year to cope with the loss of a dear friend who committed suicide. He did it a week before his birthday and even planned all the arrangements for the funeral prior. He told everyone to come wearing casual and colorful clothes as it was a party to celebrate his life and not to grieve his passing. He had so much energy and youth even at the age of 72 I just imagined him dancing at his funeral standing on the casket singing the Beach Boys as he loved their music.

I’m pushing 50 years old, and heard this for the first time yesterday in the car returning from a Sisters Of Mercy concert. What a great song and I have had his albums on Spotify all day. It’s great that everyone, no matter what age, has found an artist that speaks to everyone. I would love to go to one of his concerts but I think I would feel real old.
