I have had a first drive in the all new Renault Scenic E-Tech, recently crowned Car of the Year 2024. This new EV from Renault is full of some clever tech and innovative features. Can it deliver on it's class leading range and take the game to Tesla ?

  • Not an EV person really but i like that car and the forthcoming 5. Rrnault seem to be knocking it out the park. 👏👏
  • @KennethPaul
Renault are smashing it recently. Had the opportunity to test drive this over the weekend and it's really nice, android automotive just works plus the solarbay roof is some party trick
  • The base model at £37.5K is well-equipped and probably all that most families would need, with a real-life range of about 200 miles while avoiding the premium road fund licence. Attractive all-rounder that has a premium look.

I've inherited my Dad's Renault Austral which was a top spec, and although not a full EV and a hybrid, I've really enjoyed driving it. Renault really are doing some great things lately.

Very impressive- would be great to see a comparison video with something like the Enyaq in the fullness of time, but this sounds like it has moved things on significantly. Really appreciate the proper motoring journalism

I'm looking to replace my current EV in december for another 3 yr lease, this range is great and charge speed (although on the low end of acceptable) makes it a strong contender, now i need to go research it more, thanks PP
  • That roof is very Star Trek ish, have to say it all looks a good thought through car
  • Great review (I thought the wine analogy was spot on😀), good to see Renault producing some really decent EVs.

I'd really like to see what the real world range at 70mph is on the motorway. If it's around 250, then this car becomes interesting. I don't think the price is outrageous either. Great review Ped and tell Hendy to get you in one of these pronto...

The French revolution of car industry has begun! Peogeot and Renault (similar to Kia and Hyundai of Korea) have together introduced some of the very interesting car and EVs basically knocking it out of the park. They out of nowhere have caught up with the big EV players and have gone even better in many aspects. LOVE the interior I wish many car maker will look at this as example of new generation finesse in cabin. Not one modern entertainment / safety/ convenience features missing. Hope they sell outside Europe my finger crossed.

Great review. Going to test drive this car tomorrow and will probably be ordering the Iconic too! :)
  • Renault are certainly producing some very attractive cars with innovative tech, my one concerned is with reliability because they don’t have the greatest track record ? Apart from that I really like some of their recent cars.
  • Well spec’d model, top notch features and nice looking car. Like your Gulf shirt too - very retro. Thanks for the review.
  • I am really looking forward to seeing this car in Australia after this review. Thanks Ped.

Yep a nice looking car and reasonably practical. Absolutely love the innovative rear armrest and the photochromatic sunroof which I'm sure we'll see more of in cars to come. We owned 3 Scenics when the family was younger and they were game changers from Renault at the time as far as equipment and practicality. Double glass tilting and retractable sunroofs. A HUGE amount of legroom/space in the back. Sliding rear seats to give either more legroom or boot space. The rear seats also tilted forward for trips to the dump and totally removable for even more space or configured as a four seater for even more elbow room. There were excellent storage bins under both the rear and front seats. All this in a car the same length as the old Ford Escort. Renault have consistently been innovative and this is another example. 👍
  • Loved my old Scenic - great space but compact on the road. This one is tempting, especially if/when discounts start to appear.

Wow! Renault really have been upping their game recently ! The new Cupra Tavascan seems equally appealing! I’m sure you’ll get around to testing that as well. Thanks Pete! Cheers, Tom
