PETERBILT BIG CAM CUMMINS KNOCKING AFTER I JUST DID THE RODS AND MAINS?

Published 2024-06-04
AS MANY OF YOU KNOW, OVER THE WINTER I REPLACED THE ROD AND MAIN BEARINGS IN THIS ENGINE. WHEN I GOT THE CALL FROM THE OWNER, I WAS SICK. HE SAID "YOU JUST HAD THIS ENGINE APART AND PUT RODS AND MAINS IN IT. NOW ITS KNOCKING!" WHAT MISTAKE COULD I HAVE MADE? I DOUBLE CHECKED EVERYTHING I HAD APART. I THOUGHT IT WAS ALL GOOD. MAYBE I WAS WRONG. REGARDLESS OF WHAT I DID WRONG, I WILL MAKE IT RIGHT.

Telling the guy to get someone else to repair his truck was a good move.

Nothing worse than customer calling saying something you've worked on is not right. I know the feeling. Luckily it was something other than what you worked on. Nothing better than an old TV box for a creeper. The shiny cardboard lets you slide!! lol

I like your solutions, fixing on the fly and professionally letting him know your limitations. Glad to see you concentrating on your projects. Thanks again

This truck is going to haunt you until they blow it up! You are the man, JC!

What a relief !!! I figured it wouldn't be anything you did !!

Somebody’s been in there and doing enough to get by. Good that you made that the last time.

Much appreciated JC And Mrs Smith. That "EMPTY FEELING" In the pit of your stomach, really hurts.

JC, so sorry this old 😅friend worried you like he did, he guessed the issue was caused by your last repairs without knowing any facts. I have had friends like this myself when I was 24 hour towing company and some repairs. So many people took me for granted and it finally broke my spirit to help. As I recall this person hasn't taken your advice on his truck and it's bitten him in his rear end. He'll never find someone as fair & decent as you are so now he's on his own.. fantastic job of course. I can only hope you have a tire warranty to cover damage to the vans tire. How'd you get the truck back to the shop? I can only guess..😮.

Good call. When he burns up that engine from low water it won't be your baby anymore! Cause I'm sure those guys aren't checking the water level every day like they're supposed to and the rad is leaking now 🤦🏻‍♂️🤣

Take a weekend off, take your wife out for BBQ and bring a bite home for the puppy. You earned a break. Be it unplanned, you are blessed.

You guys drove past the exit to my house, small world. Nice repair.
  • Thanks for the video. Good to see that customer go down the road. He does not listen to your advice and is unwilling to fix things properly. You also need to enjoy your personal and family life.
  • Super job at adapting and making that work out of nothing and putting it back together great great work. Not many could do that! Don't blame you at all very difficult to fit into everybody else's schedule without it completely destroying your own!! All the best from Canada

How many times could you have told this guy "i told you soo" glad your finally done with him cause he doesn't appreciate anything you do. Roadside wouldnt have touched it. And a shop would have been weeks out and here you are saving the day for no appreciation
  • Great video J.C.Smith the Peterbilt with problems. But you were able to figure it out and fix it for the owner. Thanks for sharing stay safe Mr & Mrs J.C.Smith.
