In this video, we delve into the harrowing Uttarkashi Tunnel Disaster that struck on November 12, amidst Diwali celebrations. A catastrophic collapse at an under-construction tunnel in Uttarakhand trapped 41 workers, sparking a desperate, multinational rescue mission. Miraculously, after 17 days, the workers were saved, thanks to the relentless efforts of over 200 people. This disaster highlights the precarious state of the Himalayas, already shaken by the earlier Joshimath sinking. We examine the controversial Char Dham highway project at the heart of these calamities, a massive undertaking aimed at connecting holy sites but criticized for its ecological impact. The documentary sheds light on the government's handling of the project, the risks of tunnel construction in the fragile Himalayan region, and the broader implications of such development projects. Join us as we explore the fine line between natural and man-made disasters and the lessons to be learned from the Uttarkashi rescue operation.

I am from Uttarakhand..Dhruv you made excellent video🙌👏
I have travelled on the Char Dham Roads and it has enhanced the road safety and decreased the journey time but once i have encoutered a deadly landslide also so i think that authorities shall do the proper survey of the area before cutting slopes for road and tunnel development and leave the fragile areas untouched such as Joshimath , Uttarkashi district's and some other areas which are fragile.

The video is actually one of the most needed one. Recently read Ravi Chopra's interview in Economic Times. He said, "10,000 Deodar trees are to be cut, 10,000 deodar trees don't grow overnight". The times are hopeless.. Would avoid going to Uttarakhand for a year or so😢😢
P.S.:- Don't include this topic in another Left vs Right debate as "No weapon or group would suffice against nature"
  • Being an uttrakhandi , i am glad that you talked about this matter, concerning things are happening here , devbhumi uttrakhand in future will lost its natural beauty dur to man made works and man made accidents......😢

Dear Mr. Rathi.I hv been following u for past 4yrs and have seen almost all of ur videos. After this video I want to request you to kindly make a video on Floods,Landslides n losses caused this monsoon in Himachal Pradesh (Kullu,Manali, Mandi n Shimla) due to excessive highways constructions, cutting of mountains, deforestation, building of tunnels etc. I shall appreciate if you do. On the other hand will like to mention your videos are very informative. You are doing a phenomenal job. Well done n keep it up.

I am from uttarkashi, and i like that you made such a detailed video on this topic... As there were too much ups and downs during the rescue, Local People were believing that this incident was done because baba baukh naag was upset with this construction, they must watch this video to open their eyes. The place where i live is eco sensitive zone.. during rainy season, the travelling is too much difficult and risky, bcz landslides are not predictable.. you can stuck anywhere, many people have lost their lives on road bcz of these landslides... In my place this chardham project is going on from last few months, they are cutting hills and hills are falling down with debris and sand, and the condition is like if road is clear today, tommorow there will be a huge heap of debris bcz of landslide and the road will be blocked, bcz ultimately these people are making our hills weak... we don't want any development anymore.. our lives are way more important than these so called development... you have open so many things about char dham project very fearlessly.. you are such a brave man.. thnx a lot ❤
