Kingdom Come is a four-issue comic book miniseries published in 1996 by DC Comics under their Elseworlds imprint. It was written by Mark Waid and Alex Ross and painted in gouache by Ross, who also developed the concept from an original idea. The story is set in the near future of the DC Universe.

Billy throwing Clark to the ground and sacrifices him to stop the bomb is probably my favorite Shazam moment of all time.

Kingdom Come really is just... One of those stories. Everybody who reads it comes away with a different interpretation, each as valid as the last.

Kingdom Come is a master class in story telling. It’s really just a great and tragic comic. I honestly love how religion is at the core of the story while not feeling preachy or out of place.

Yo, I knew this was one of DC's greatest stories but I never knew what it was about or got the chance to read it. I'm glad you remastered it. This story is epic and Alex Ross' art really makes me feel so immersed.
  • “But the minute you made the Super more important than the Man…The day you decided to turn your back on mankind…You completely lost your instinct (referring to Superman’s greatest power being his instinctive knowledge of right and wrong that was a gift of his humanity)”. This. I get why people would prefer the Superman who is angrily tearing down the United Nations with his eyes glowing red. But what McCay said is why Superman may be naive, he may stick to his morals too much, and he may be old and busted, but he will always be the bastion of hope and the gold standard for heroism for me.

"it's only in the face of tragic loss that we are actually forced to confront what caused that loss in the first place" is hands down the greatest statement that transcends the pages of a comic book and can be used to help anyone going through the roughest points of their life. Thank you Rob for one of the purest words of wisdom. Remember these words anytime you are confused or just need guidance on your next step in this crazy thing we call "life."
  • I remember I was 16 first time I read this comic. I'm 40 now and this was a real trip down memory lane. I was the only kid I knew that read comics. Didn't have many friends so there was no one to tell about it but my mom Lol. This is and will always be one of my all time favorites ❤

Bro. The delivery of the final battle. The writing, the tension with every turn of the page. This is an amazing comic book. And i hope it stays that way.

Arguably one of the greatest comics of all time from any publisher. I'm a huge Marvel fan and not "as much" of a DC fan, but this is definitely one of my top favorite stories, hands down! Thank you for covering this, Rob!
  • I absolutely loved Kingdom Come. Billy's tragic/heroic ending. Wonderwoman being a complete psycho. Batman being classic Batman. Superman...oh Superman..
  • It’s safe to say Wonder Woman aged better than both Superman and Batman.

The art is beautiful and the story is absolutely amazing! I listen to these videos on my way to work Thank you Rob for covering this comic 💯
  • @AjaxOutlaw
I love the Superman panels after the bomb. You can just hear the sound he makes and imagine the streams of ash and wind that follow behind him as he takes off
  • @Jezee213
Best freaking part of this story 7:22 "Fingers that can fuse coal into diamond" man! love that part.
  • @davionvanste614
The art in this is just insane. I love it. I need more of it. I wish they used this art style more often
  • @54m0h7
What an amazing story. I wonder if they'll ever do a sequel comic, maybe have it like 20-30 years in the future featuring the child of Superman/Wonder Woman. That'd be pretty dope.
  • @degnomer8066
    1. Marvel's cape hanging at the UN hit me too hard; 2. I love the way Flash is drawn by Ross.
  • @awashington8447
Legitimately one of the greatest stories ever told 🎯💯
  • @mirgill1
Loved Kingdom Come when it came out that I bought different versions of the comic for the art of Alex Ross and the overall story by Mark Waid. But Rob, why are you are messing up the part where it was Dick Grayson on the hospital bed recovering and his daughter by his side whose mother is obviously Starfire and not Superman and Wonder Woman. The utility belt with the Red Robin symbol was right beside Dick Grayson. Quality control, man. 🤣 🤣 🤣

Thanks for the early morning drop I needed something to vibe to on my shift lol
