Two teen friends were lying on a blanket in Daytona Beach when they were struck. The Florida lifeguard who ran over them told cops he was on his way to get food when he accidentally ran over the teens. Rebecca Juarez's daughter was one of the victims. She says her daughter suffered a contusion of her spinal cord and she had a brain bleed. Critics say lifeguards should not be driving around in large trucks. Many beach communities have switched to smaller ATV vehicles that are lower to the ground.

The irony of almost being killed by a 'life' guard
  • @ntrlstar
the lifeguard was way too nonchalant for me...
  • So he admitted that he wasn't looking where he was driving. Negligent.

That lifeguard does not give one damn. It’s actually scary
  • The lifeguard could give a hot damn about hitting someone. “It just happened” like he ordered the wrong toppings on a pizza.

How incompetent do you have to be to drive on a populated beach and not watch where you’re going
  • Lady, no one should have to ask the life guards that, that’s the point!
  • @dh3279
NO, you don’t need to go to the lifeguard stand and ask the lifeguards where a safe place would be! That’s ridiculous! There’s no excuse for a lifeguard/driver to run over someone. And that guy who was interviewed after running over someone should be CHARGED! He admitted that he was looking out at the water instead of in front of where he was driving. And he acted like he couldn’t have possibly cared less. “It happened,” was his comment. What an uncaring douchebag.

So what happened to the guy who killed the old lady? Was he held responsible? Ridiculous.
  • Give lifeguards quads/atvs unstead of these dumb giant trucks that clearly arent meant for driving over populated beaches Weaker impact if a collision happens Cheaper Easier to maneuver on a beach More visibility I dont see any negatives

That careless lifeguard needs to get a different job...and pay damages to the ppl he killed and hurt !!
  • @EarthyOSC
It's ironic how a lifeguard, the person that's supposed to keep people safe, wasn't even being safe himself.
  • @R0DSTER
don't tell me that the life guard wasn't arrested and charged. he admitted to looking at the water...instead of you know, looking forward whilst driving? through a beach no less?
  • @FDR-ww6xz
I think vehicles should be banned from the Florida beaches.

This is unacceptable and so unnecessary. He runs over two people while on his way to get lunch! WALK. If this he struck two people in the parking lot or on the road, he would be in handcuffs. There should not be large vehicles on beaches for non- emergency use. The lifeguard’s attitude about running over two young women was so nonchalant - it’s disturbing! Why is he looking off into the ocean when he should be looking at what’s in front of him while he’s driving?
  • @RLFinTX
That lifeguard didn’t seem phased at all! What on earth?! Time for that zero to lose employment and be prosecuted.
  • “It’s just a bad spot” so your blaming what you did by not being carful on the spot these people chose? What an irresponsible man
  • @siraran2077
You think the lifeguards should be fired for this?
  • @egyphon
He was looking at the water? Isn't he supposed to look in front of the car?
