The marriage between the arts and academics comes naturally to Cynthia Zaferatos and has proven to be a successful union in her years of teaching in Bellingham. Now a substitute teacher at Lowell School, she was a full time educator in Bellingham schools for over 25 years. She teaches the value of finding peace within yourself and allowing this peace to encourage creativity. Cynthia has incorporated art into exploring and understanding social issues that are sometimes hard for children to comprehend. Her students view science, history and the world through the eyes of art and grow up appreciating the world around them. Described as a "master teacher" by her peers, Cynthia sets the bar high.
