When I moved to Thailand back in 1977 at the age of 23, it was all about freedom and discovery for me. Job, marriage, kids, debts, stress, ill health, complacency, depression, divorce and a litany of other problems and dependencies were not the things I dreamed of. I came here with no plan except to discover myself. Moving someplace where everything is completely unfamiliar will really kickstart your personal growth, if you are open to the journey. I found out who I was. I found a life that felt true to me and in the end, as if a reward for all my effort, I found true love. Thailand was the best decision I ever made. With the modern dependence on social media I am not sure how it would work today but I encourage people to try listening to that inner voice. Nothing worse than a life of regrets or knowing that path you were too afraid to take was probably the one you should have taken. Live, love, learn and become who you are meant to be.
