The Banshee - Irish Bean Sidhe, Scots Gaelic Ban Sith of Goidelic Celtic folklore whose screeching wail of lamentation at night was believed to herald an impending death. The Banshee is never the cause, only the witness.

The original online persona, thebansheerose, was created in 1998 born out of ancestral research into Celtic history, mythology and storytelling. The rose is but a fitting metaphor for genealogy wherein every beautiful family story hides a few thorns.
