I went from the stage to Silicon Valley!!

One day I decided to pause on making music and doing shows to learn coding. So I’d watch YouTube videos on Python before and after work, and then took a large pay cut to join a startup in customer support for a startup company. My hypothesis was that if I’m in an environment with access to engineers then I’d be able to finesse my way into a career.

So I kept studying and then one day, preparation met opportunity and I was promoted to an engineering position, and paid to move from Phoenix to San Francisco. Since then I’ve been mastering my engineering craft.

Did it with no college education, no real tech network, and definitely no handouts. I’ve been laid off twice in my career and promoted three times!
